Ringleader killed in \\\'gunfight\\\'

FARIDPUR, June 13 (UNB): The ringleader of an inter-district robber gang was killed in a 'gunfight' with police at Kanaipur under Sadar Upazila on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Selim Sheikh (30), of Madhukhali Upazila of the district.

Acting on secret information that a gang of robbers was taking preparation to commit robbery in the area, a team of police conducted a drive in the area at around 3:30 am.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on police, prompting them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight.
