The High Court (HC) granted on Wednesday an interim bail to BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in four cases filed against him in connection with street violence, reports UNB.
An HC bench comprising Justice Mohammad Rezaul Haque and Justice Mohammad Khasruzzaman passed the order after a hearing on the BNP leader's bail petition.
Advocate Joynul Abedin stood for the petitioner while deputy attorney general Fazlur Rahman Khan represented the state.
Of the four cases, three were filed with Mirpur thana while another with Pallabi thana against Rizvi on charge of carrying out subversive activities, including vandalising and torching vehicles and hurling crude bombs.
Rizvi's Lawyer Sagir Hossain Leon said the BNP leader has so far secured bail in nine cases out of 17 filed against him this year.
