A court in the city placed Monday BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on a three-day fresh remand in an arson case filed with Mohammadpur police station, reports UNB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Maruf Hossain passed the order, rejecting the bail petition filed by Rizvi's counsel Sanaullah Miah on expiry of his two-day remand in another case.
Kamal Krishna Saha, sub-inspector of Mohammadpur police station and also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court, seeking a 7-day remand.
On January 17, miscreants set a bus afire near Mohammadpur Beribadh in the city. Nurul Hossain, sub-inspector of Mohammadpur police station, filed a case in this connection the following day. Rizvi was shown arrested in the case on Monday.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Rizvi from a house at Baridhara in the city on January 31.
