Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday said there was no instance in the world history about resurgence of an authoritarian ruler.
The people of Italy and Germany never allowed a fascist government to come back again, he said adding that they could not even manage social acceptability.
Opining that Sheikh Hasina's resurgence would pose a real threat to the lives of those seriously injured during the recent mass movement, Rizvi said, "The deadly scheme of Sheikh Hasina will be implemented against the family members of those who were vocal and actively participated for bringing back democracy in the country."
The BNP leader made the remarks to the media after visiting the family members of Tahmid and Masud Rana, who were martyred at Mirpur in the capital during the movement in July and August.
He handed over financial assistances to the family members of the slain protesters on behalf of the party's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
"These two martyrs were the only bread earner of their respective family. The family of Masud Rana was dependent solely on his income. His wife is now helpless and his child is crying."
"Tahmid would have gotten a job if he had a master's degree. He belonged to a lower-middle income family. They purchased democracy by sacrificing their blood and that should never be compromised."
The senior leader called upon the interim government to provide jobs to the family members of the martyrs as per their educational qualifications.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi further said Bangladesh has started journey towards the path of democracy after the ouster of Sheikh Hasina through the mass movement.
He mentioned the incident in which Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi, former chairman of Samabaya Bank and also joint general secretary of Jubo League, sold 7,398 bhoris (86.29 kg approx.) of gold that were stored in the bank.
Hinting that such abuse of power was derived from the permissions given and examples set by the Hasina government, Rizvi said, "What a country it was! Sheikh Hasina gave licences for committing irregularities."
With her support, individuals in the civil and police administration became the owners of billions of taka, he continued.
He called upon the interim government to hold national election at the earliest after finishing their reforms.
Meanwhile, Adviser to BNP Chairperson Zainul Abdin Farroque said on Thursday a section of government officials, who were highly loyal to the immediate past Awami League government, are now active in the system to destabilise the interim government.
He made the comment at a programme in front of the National Press Club demanding immediate removal of Sheikh Hasina's loyal and controversial bureaucrats from the public administration.
"Sheikh Hasina committed mass killings and ordered enforced disappearances after coming to power by relying on the 1/11 government. Why the illegal members of parliament (during the past government) are not yet arrested?"
He expressed fear that the collaborators of Hasina and a section of government officials, loyal to Awami League, might create conspiracy and destabilise the interim government, if time is wasted.
Farroque said the collaborators have started hatching conspiracy to create unrest in the export-oriented garment industry.
Fascist Hasina has siphoned off billions of taka from the country, and for this reason she should be tried, he opined.
