RMP takes security measures for RCC polls

RAJSHAHI, July 29 (BSS): Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has taken all-out security measures for the August 4 Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) election to make it peaceful and successful.
Talking to the news agency that RMP Deputy Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman said 56 out of total 129 polling centres in 30 Wards, in the metropolis has been identified as vulnerable.
He said around 2,000 armed police including 1,000 from the RMP are planned to be deployed at the polling centers on the polling day.
A team of 30 armed personnel comprising 14 policemen and 16 Ansars, led by a sub-inspector, will be deployed in each of the vulnerable centres while 28-member team would be in each of the other centres.
Some 28 mobile teams, led by a sub-inspector, have already been formed for patrolling the polling centres. A total of 30 striking mobile teams consisting of 10-armed police members, led by a magistrate and a police inspector, will be on duty in all the 30 wards on the polling day.
In addition to this, three striking reserve forces will be ready in four police stations to take action if any untoward incidents takes place. Each team will be formed with an Assistant Police Commissioner.
He also said RMP has already completed all necessary preparations to hold the election peacefully.
