Kamal Mahmud, a friend of ruling party MP Pinu Khan's son Bakhtiar Alam Rony, stated before a Dhaka court that Rony opened fire indiscriminately from his car in New Easkaton area on April 13 that left two people dead, reports UNB.

A court recorded on Wednesday the statement of Kamal in the double murder case filed with the Ramna thana.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Haque recorded the statement of Kamal Mahmud, who was in the car on the day, when the IO of the case DB inspector Dipak Kumar Das produced him before the court.

He mentioned in his statement that he was seated beside Rony in the car when the firing occurred.

Meanwhile, Tanjir Ahmed, brother of Rony, filed a petition before the court for custody of the car which was seized earlier. After hearing the petition, the court directed the IO to examine the document of the 'Prado' car and submit report to the court.

"Rony was annoyed in the traffic jam and fired gunshots with his licensed gun. I couldn't say immediately whether anyone received bullet in the firing but later I came to know that two people received bullet and died", Kamal told the court.
