Rowshan urges govt to expedite relief work in flood-hit areas

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Begum Rowshan Ershad called upon the government Monday to distribute adequate relief materials among the flood affected people across the country and taking measurers for improving law and order, reports BSS.
The government should expedite relief distribution measurers to minimise the suffering of the flood affected people as the existing government efforts to this end is not adequate considering the sufferings of the affected people, he said.
Taking floor after Magrib prayers, Begum Ershad also requested the government to constitute a committee comprising Bangladesh army and eminent personalities and experts to prevent river bank erosion and rehabilitating the flood victims.
On the much talked about broadcasting policy, she urged the government to form a committee to finalise a policy in this connection in consultation with all stakeholders and the common people to avert controversy.
Referring to recent killing of Khatib Nurul Islam Faruquee, she asked the law enforcement agencies to remain vigil to prevent recurrence of such gruesome killings and improving the law and order.
She said the government has to take immediate measurers to bring the killers to book for the sake of law and order. The Leader of the opposition advised the government to generate more employment opportunities for the greater national interest.
She also requested the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to take immediate mesurers for announcing Mymensingh as a division comprising Sherpur, Jamalpur, Netrokona and Mymensing districts.
