May 22, 2014 00:00:00

Police have raided a dormitory of Rajshahi University (RU) fearing violence. However, nobody was detained in the one-hour raid at the ‘Shahid Shamsuzzoha’ Hall starting around 2:00am on Thursday. “We conducted the raid fearing violence when we were informed that several Islami Chhatra Shibir activists chased a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL). But they managed to flee before we reached there,” Motihar Police Station OC Alamgir Hossain said. RU unit’s BCL president Mizanur Rahman Rana said 10-12 Shibir activists from outside the dormitory chased the hall unit BCL leader Mobasshir Ahmed Tamim. Tamim came down straight and informed duty policemen at the hall gate. Proctor Tarikul Hasan Milon said the raid was conducted to ensure security in the dormitory, according to bdnews24.com.
