Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina Tuesday stressed the need for working together with the South Asian nations to further accelerate the economic development of the region, reports UNB.
"The region will further get developed and prosperous if the South Asian nations work together and cooperate with each other," the PM expressed the views when outgoing Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Bangladesh WA Sarath Kumara Weragoda paid a courtesy call on her at her official residence Ganobhaban Tuesday.
PM's Special Assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil briefed reporters after the meeting.
Referring to the long friendly relations between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, the PM hoped that the ties would further be consolidated in the years to come.
The Sri Lankan High Commissioner extended his sincere thanks to the PM for performing his responsibilities during his tenure in Bangladesh.
He expressed the hope that the advancement of Bangladesh as a happy, prosperous and peaceful country would continue.
