SEOUL, Jun 4 (UNB): South Korea has shown keen interest to invest in Bangladesh's energy and infrastructure sectors besides recruitment of Bangladeshi workforce.

South Korean Foreign Minister Song Min-soon said this during a formal talk with Foreign Affairs Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury today morning.

Song Min-soon thanked Chowdhury for Bangladesh government's approval to the Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) in Chittagong and expressed the hope that this would open up a much larger window to Korean investments in Bangladesh.

Chowdhury, who is leading the Bangladesh delegation to the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) ministerial meeting, told his Korean counterpart that Bangladesh would most eagerly welcome all kinds of economic cooperation from Seoul with whom they share so many common values.

The adviser also held another meeting with Japanese Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Katsuhito Asano. Asano praised the caretaker government's reform initiatives and assured all Japanese assistance in this respect.

"Japan sees Bangladesh as a great and good friend and is always ready to extend her possible assistance," the Japanese vice-minister said.

They discussed cooperation in infrastructure, water, energy and communications.

Japan sought Bangladesh's support in the United Nations (UN) on a number of issues. The adviser assured that Japan would "receive the most favourable considerations".
