Saber Chy elected president of IPU standing committee

Saber Hossain Chowdhury MP has been elected president of Inter-Parliamentary Union's (IPU) First Standing Committee (Peace & International Security), reports UNB.
He was elected in the 124th Assembly of the union at Panama City which concluded on 20th April. Deputy Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament led the Bangladesh delegation to the 124th Assembly, said a PID handout Thursday.
Mr Chowdhury is also the chair of Bangladesh Parliament's All Party Parliamentary Group on Climate Change and Environment and Global Council Member of Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament.
This is the first time that a member of parliament (MP) from Bangladesh has been elected to Presidency of Standing Committee of the IPU.
