Saber hands over Tk 1.5m to family of slain forest officer

MUNSHIGANJ, Apr 07 (BSS): Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury on Saturday said his ministry is working to ensure maximum punishment for those involved in killing Md Sajjaduzzaman, a beat officer of the forest department in Cox's Bazar.
"No one involved in the killing will be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice through a transparent process. People involved in such incidents in the past would also be brought to justice. A special message will be given to prevent such incidents in the future," he said.
The environment minister made the remarks while handing over a cheque of financial assistance to the family of Sajjaduzzaman at his residence of Vitikandi village at Ghazaria upazila of Munshiganj.
Sajjaduzzaman was killed by a mini truck (dumper) of miscreants in Cox's Bazar recently.
Expressing deep condolences to the family members of Sajjaduzzaman, Saber Hossain said when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was informed about the incident, she also expressed grief and sorrow too.
He said due to the untimely death of Sajjaduzzaman, the family will not face financial crisis, so employment will be given to his wife.
The ministry and the Forest Department will always stand by his family, he added.
The environment minister handed over Tk 1.5 million (15 lakh) in cheque and cash on behalf of his ministry to the father of the deceased beat officer Sajjaduzzaman.
Later, the minister visited the grave of the slain beat officer.
Chief Conservator of Forests Md Amir Hosain Chowdhury, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests Gobinda Roy, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests Md Zahidul Kabir, Deputy Secretary (Forest) Abu Naeem Mohammad Maruf Khan and Forest Conservators RSM Munirul Islam and Abdul Awal Sarkar were present, among others.
Another UNB report adds: Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that the ministry is working to ensure the maximum punishment of those who were behind the death of a forest officer in Cox's Bazar.
"Criminals will not be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice through a transparent process," he said while handing over a cheque of financial assistance to the family members of the deceased forest official at Vitikandi village in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj district on Sunday.
Md Sazzaduzzaman, Beat Officer of the Forest Department, was killed by a mini truck (dumper) of miscreants in Cox's Bazar.
A special message will be given to prevent such incidents from happening in the future, he added.
Expressing deep condolences to the family members of the forest official, the minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also expressed sorrow over the demise of the forest officer.
He also assured that they will give a job to the wife of the deceased.
