Awami League (AL) Presidium member Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury rejected Saturday the allegation of corruption brought against her.
"I obviously reject the government list that has shown me as corrupt," she told newsmen at her Gulshan residence, reports UNB.
Sajeda said she would reply and state her position if the government issued notice upon her. She also opposed the arrest of Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia before completion of investigation into charges of corruption against them.
Criticising the motive behind putting names of Awami Leaguers on corrupt lists, she said it was being done under a planned design to corner the party and silence the voice of AL leaders and workers.
"I have the right to know of my offence. Is it my offence to oppose Rajakars?"
Sajeda said she was implicated in corruption charge based on the statement of arrested chief conservator of forest Osman Gani whom she suspended on charge of theft and corruption while she was the minister for Forest and Environment.
She admitted that as a minister she gave jobs to many unemployed people but not in exchange of money. "Had I been corrupt, I would have money in banks, but in fact I don't have bank accounts," Sajeda said.
