BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed has told two of his relatives who met him at a hospital in Shillong that he had been brought there blindfolded after changing vehicles for several times.
On the other hand, BNP urged the government Thursday not to do foul politics over Salahuddin's disappearance, reports UNB.
The BNP joint secretary general  revealed to his relatives that he was brought down from a vehicle blindfolded near Shillong Pologround, according to a report released by BBC Bangla on Thursday.
After removing the blindfold, the BNP leader said, he talked to local people and came to know that he was in Meghalaya's capital.
Salahuddin's two relatives, amid tight security, met him at Shillong Civil Hospital where he has been undergoing treatment in police custody.
BBC's Amitabh Bhattasali talked to Salahuddin's two relatives as they came out of the hospital after meeting Salahuddin. One of them is Ayub Ali, a resident of Kolkata, who claimed to be a distant brother of the BNP leader. The BBC report, however, did not mention the name of the other relative.
Meanwhile, BNP on Thursday urged the government to demonstrate a human attitude by assisting the family members of its leader Salahuddin Ahmed to safely bring him back home from India instead of doing foul politics over his disappearance.
Addressing a press briefing at the party's Nayapaltan central office, BNP joint general secretary M Shahjahan said, "We want to tell the government to take proper steps and extend cooperation to Salahuddin Ahmed's family to return him to them. We expect a human and passionate attitude from the government instead of cruel comments in this regard."
