July 07, 2015 00:00:00

The Appellate Division (AD) of the Supreme Court (SC) asked on Monday SM Shahjahan, counsel for BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury (SQC), to conclude his arguments today (Tuesday), reports BSS.

The four-member AD bench headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha heard the matter for 12 days. Advocate Shahjahan argued on the charges of crimes against humanity, for which the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 had convicted the BNP leader and former lawmaker from Chittagong.

On October 01, 2013, the ICT-1 sentenced Chowdhury to death and he lodged on October 29 an appeal against the tribunal order of the same year.

Hearing on the appeal filed by Chowdhury started on June 16, 2015 and on July 01, the prosecution concluded their arguments on the matter.
