SC clears way for proceedings of case against Mayor Mohiuddin

The Supreme Court (SC) Sunday reversed for a week a High Court (HC) order clearing way for trial proceedings of the Bijoy TV scam case against detained Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, reports UNB. Chamber court of Justice MA Matin, following a government petition, passed the order and asked the government to file a regular leave to appeal against the HC order by the time.
On January 17, the HC, upon a petition, stayed further proceedings of the Bijoy TV scam case against the CCC Mayor and issued a rule upon the DC of Chittagong to explain why the case should not be quashed.
