The Supreme Court (SC) fixed on Sunday new date of July 8 for passing order on the government's petition against a High Court (HC) order granting bail to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in three violence cases, reports UNB.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division (AD), headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, fixed the date.
Earlier on July 2, the bench had fixed Sunday for giving the order.
The court also directed that a three-member medical team, comprising a medicine specialist, cardiologist and cardiovascular specialist, be formed by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital to conduct Mirza Fakhrul's treatment and a report on his physical condition be submitted by the team on July 8.
The court gave the directive after Fakhrul's lawyer Khandaker Mahbub Hossain submitted several reports on his (Fakhrul's) health condition, said another lawyer Sagir Hossain Leon.
But Attorney General Mahbubey Alam opposed the reports.
On June 28, the ADof the SC turned down the government's petition against a HC order granting bail to Fakhrul.
On June 25, after concluding hearing on the government appeal, the bench of the AD fixed the date for giving the order.
