The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) has scheduled a hearing for November 19 of this year to review an appeal petition filed against a High Court verdict that deemed the registration of Jamaat with the Election Commission (EC) as illegal.
A five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Justice Obaidul Hassan passed the order after hearing on the case on Sunday.
The apex court will also hold hearing on two other petitions on that day.
One petition sought a ban on the political activities of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and another filed for issuing contempt of court charges against Jamaat Amir (party chief), Secretary General and other central leaders of the organization.
