Section 144 in Sitakunda

CHITTAGONG, July 10 (bdnews24.com): Authorities have imposed Section 144 in Sitakunda Upazila of the port city in the light of simultaneous meetings called by local Awami League (AL) and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
All meetings and gatherings were banned in Jangal Salimpur area from 8.00am Saturday to 9.00am today (Sunday), Sitakunda police station's sub-inspector Habibur Rahman said.
Local BNP called a commemorative meeting at 3.00pm Saturday following the death of Ali Akkas, who died recently in a shootout with RAB.
BNP leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury and Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor M Manzur Alam were supposed to be present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, local AL also called a meeting demanding the trial of war criminals at the same time.
