Shafi's move 'part of conspiracy to make BD a Taliban state'

Speakers at a roundtable in the city observed on Sunday that the move of Moulana Shah Ahmad Shafi and his Hefajat-e-Islam is a part of local and international conspiracy to make Bangladesh a Taliban state, reports BSS. Referring to the recent move of Hefajat-e-Islam and some derogatory remarks made by its leader Moulana Shafi against women, the speakers said such a move was aimed at destroying the country's booming garments sector, more precisely the country's overall economy. Held at a local hotel, the roundtable on "The Dignity and Importance of Women in Islam & Present Perspectives" was organised by Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat and presided over by Coordination Committee Convener Alhaj Moulana M A Matin. Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Islami Front Chairman Alhaj Moulana M A Mannan, Gazi M A Wahed Saburi, Peerjada Syed Jahan Shah Mujaddedi, Peer Tarikat Moulana Harun ar Rashid Rezvi, Moulana Abu Sufian Abedi Al-Kaderi, Principal Mohammad Abdul Matin, Professor M A Mumen, Moulana Abul Kasem Fazlul Haq, Principal Abu Jafar Mohammad Helaluddin and Chhatra Sena President Abu Naser Mohammad Musa and Mohammad Nurul Haq Chisti, among others, took part in the discussion. Member-Secretary of the organisation Alhaj Advocate Moshaheb Uddin Bakhtiar presented the key-note paper on the subject while Alhaj Moulana S U M Abdul Samad conducted the function.
