Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan has urged the government to take necessary steps to shut BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's office in Gulshan diplomatic zone as she is conspiring sitting there to kill people in the name of a movement, report agencies.
The Shipping Minister made the call on Monday while addressing a demonstration programme near the BNP chief's Gulshan office.
He threatened that people will take the BNP chairperson to Kashimpur central jail if she does not call off the hartal and transport blockade immediately.
"We request the Prime Minister to arrest a monster like Khaleda Zia. If the government doesn't do that people will arrest her and take her to Kashmipur jail," he said amid clapping by several thousands pro-ruling party workers gathered there to lay a siege to Khaleda's office protesting the ongoing violence across the country.
As they reached the entry point of the office road No 86 around 12:20pm, police intercepted them.
Later, they staged a demonstration there holding placards, banners and festoons inscribed with anti-hartal, blockade and violence slogans.
Meanwhile, security measures were beefed around Khaleda's office since morning over the programme deploying huge law enforcers.
Besides, some leaders and activists of Mohila Awami League staged a demonstration near BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office.
Addressing the rally, Khan asked the government to remove her office from Gulshan within 24 hours.
JaSaD leader and 'Sramik Jote' (workers' union) leader Shirin Akhter said, "End your agitation within the next 24 hours. Otherwise, you can't stay at your office. We'll be left with no choice but to arrest you."
They announced a procession of trucks in Dhaka on February 18 and another on February 19.
