Shakib wants to run election race from AL

He collects nomination forms for Magura-1, Magura-2 and Dhaka-10

Bangladesh national cricket team captain Shakib Al Hasan wants to participate in the 12th parliamentary elections from Awami League.

Nomination forms have been collected for three seats in his name, reports bdnews24.com.

A relative of the world's best all-rounder picked up the forms on Saturday, the day the ruling party began selling forms to aspirants.

The constituencies where Shakib wants to stand include his district Magura-1 and Magura-2 as well as Dhaka-10.

Central Awami League member Shahab Uddin Faraji in charge of Dhaka division and Mustafizur Rahman Mustaq, member of central Awami League subcommittee in charge of Khulna division confirmed this information in the form distribution and submission process.

The two leaders confirmed this and said that a relative had collected forms three on behalf of Shakib.

Even before the 2018 11th parliamentary elections, Awami League's general secretary Obaidul Quader said Shakib will submit the nomination form. But in the end he didn't buy. According to media reports, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told him to continue playing.
