SHERPUR, Aug 31 (UNB): Joint forces Friday arrested Nakla Pourasava chairman from his office on charge of embezzling rice allocated for poor people under vulnerable group feeding (VGF) programme.
The joint forces raided the pourasava office at noon and picked up chairman Mizanur Rahman, also member of district Awami League executive committee, along with six sacks of rice, which he embezzled instead of distribution among VGF card holders.
The police said, 15 tonnes of rice have been allocated for 1,500 VGF card holders in Nakla pourasava.
But the chairman kept six sacks of rice in his possession instead of distributing those.
He was being interrogated at the local army camp till filling of this report.
