RAJSHAHI, Dec 10 (UNB): Police arrested an activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) along with firearms and bullets and one of his associates from Achua Koshaipara area of Godagari Upazila Tuesday.
The arrestees were identified as Ahsan Habib, 22, son of Altaf Hossain of Rajapur village in Raninagar Upazila of Naogaon district, and his associate Hasan Ali, 25, of Shibganj Upazila in Chapainawabganj.
Habib is a third year student of the English Department of Rajshahi University (RU) and an activist of ICS, Rajshahi University unit.
Officer-in-charge of Godagari Police station SM Abu Forhad said a patrol team of police halted the motorcycle of Ahsan and Hasan on the Rajshahi-Dhaka Highway in Achua Koshaipara area on the way to Rajshahi from Chapainawabganj in the afternoon.
Habib opened fire at the police men as the law enforcers signalled them to stop.
Later, police arrested them after a hot chase.
Police also recovered a foreign- made pistol, two magazines and seven rounds of bullet from Habib.
