COMILLA, Mar 28 (UNB): A court issued a show-cause notice on the Dhaka jail authorities as BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia failed to appear before it on Wednesday in a case filed over the 2015 arson attack on a bus in Chauddagram upazila that left eight people dead.
The Dhaka Jail authorities were asked to reply the show-cause notice within seven days.
Comilla Metropolitan Magistrate Court-5 Judge Kazi Arafat passed the order and set April 8 to hear Khaleda's bail plea in the case.
Earlier on March 12, showing BNP chairperson arrested in the case the Comilla court asked police to produce her before it on March 28.
The former prime minister has been in old central jail on Nazimuddin Road since February 8 in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case as a Dhaka court had sentenced her to five years' imprisonment after conviction.
According to the case statement, Khaleda was charged with instigating arson attack on a bus that had killed at least eight people and injured 20 others at Jagmohanpur of Chouddagram on February 3, 2015 during the movement of the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
