Shu-Shyastha launched for health promotion in Chittagong

CHITTAGONG, Mar 19 (UNB): 'Shu-Shyastha', a new health initiative, was launched at a village in Chittagong district with the mission of health promotion and disease prevention through creation of health literacy amongst the community members. Dev Care Foundation, a non-profit social organisation, launched the health initiative, Friday at Mohammadpur village in Anwara Upazila. Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Textile and Jute Ministry Akhteruzzaman Chowdhury (Babu) attended the inaugural function as the chief guest. Dev Care Foundation Chairperson Principal Harunar Rashid presided over the function. Speaking briefly at the function, Akhteruzzaman Chowdhury emphasised that 'Shu-Shyastha', the initiative taken by Dev Care Foundation, will play an important role in improving community healthcare of the area. "It can be a model to be emulated in other parts of the country," he said. Director Health Chittagong Dr M Abu Taher, Anwara Upazila Chairman Anowarul Islam Khan Shawgat, BMA Chittagong president Dr Sheikh Safiul Azam, Md Khairul Alam Azad, Prof MA Faiz, Prof Ridwanur Rahman, BMA Chittagong Secretary General Dr Nasir Uddin Mahmood, and Anwara Upazila Awami League president Baharuddin Shahazi also spoke on the occasion.
