"If there is anything in the National Women Development Policy that contradicts with the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SM), it could be changed through discussions," Mohammad Shahjahan Miah said Sunday. Addressing a press briefing at the Secretariat, he said: "The [April 4] hartal has been called to hold back the process of war crimes trials and to oust the government." He warned: "They (protestors) would be requested to sit for discussion as long as they do not go for clash. But action will be taken, if needed." Islami Oikya Jote (IOJ) chairman Mufti Fazlul Haque Amini called the day-long country-wide shutdown for Apr 4 protesting the proposed women policy.
