Six including Rizvi, Parwar on remand

A Dhaka court has placed six leaders of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami on a three-day remand each in a case lodged over vandalising and setting Setu Bhaban on fire on July 18, reports BSS.
The six accused who were put on remand are BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, its organising secretary Qazi Sayedul Alam Babul, publicity affairs secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Dhaka north city unit member secretary Aminul Haque, BNP's Bagerhat district convener MA Salam and Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Miah Golam Parwar.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam passed the order on Thursday as police produced the six before the court after completion of their five-day remand in a case for vandalising Kazipara Metro Rail Station in the capital's Mirpur and pleaded to show them arrested in Setu Bhaban attack case with a seven-day remand prayer.
A mob of 250 to 300 people on July 18 stormed into the premises of Setu Bhaban, vandalised many vehicles, and motorbikes, ransacked different sheds and rooms, and later set those on fire. They attacked and beat many employees black and blue.
