'Smart parliament' to be established soon: Speaker

Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has said a "Smart parliament" will be established soon, reports BSS.

"The officers and employees of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) are carrying out their duties and responsibilities faithfully . . . A 'Smart parliament' will be established soon," she told a special coordination meeting with all relevant people of the Parliament Secretariat at the newly-constructed conference room at North Plaza of the JS complex on Sunday.

Noting that all activities of the Jatiya Sangsad are being conducted in line with the law, the Speaker said at the beginning of every year, the importance of this type of coordination meeting with the participation of all wings of the Parliament Secretariat is very crucial.

Dr Shirin stressed increasing the cyber security of the Jatiya Sangsad, the capacity building of the Human Resources Division and digitising the JS Library.

Dr Shirin also gave directives in bringing dynamism in the administrative, legislative and procurement activities.

Senior Secretary of Parliament Secretariat KM Abdus Salam, Additional Secretary of Administrative Support Wing Md Nuruzzaman, Additional Secretary of Human Resources Division Mahbuba Panna, Director General of B&IT Division Joint Secretary SM Manjur and Joint Secretary of Legislative Support Wing Begum Chumiya Khanam, among others, spoke on the occasion.

Relevant officials of different wings of the parliament secretariat were also present.
