ALPB sits today A meeting of Awami League Parliamentary Board (ALPB) will be held at Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's official residence Gonobhaban on Monday. The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm and Awami League (AL) president Sheikh Hasina will chair the meeting as head of the board. AL general secretary and LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam requested all concerned to attend the meeting. -UNB Another suspect held in mayor Lokman murder case NARSINGDI, Nov 20: Another young man was arrested on Saturday night for his suspected involvement in the November 1 mayor Lokman Hossain murder case. Police said Nasir was picked up from his Aldi Monoharpur home in Sadar Upazila. Nasir and three others arrested on Saturday, Farooq, Sabuj and Shaheen - were Sunday produced before the court with remand petition. Chief judicial magistrate Nitai Chandra Saha granted their 10-day police remand for further interrogation. -UNB Nat'l Legal Aid Sangstha to be set up Parliament on Sunday passed a bill to establish the National Legal Aid Sangstha for providing financial and other help to economically insolvent, hapless people who are unable to seek justice due to various economic and social reasons. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed moved the bill titled the Legal Aid (Amendment) Bill, 2011. The bill was passed by voice vote in absence of the opposition members in the House. - BSS Charge hearing in tax evasion case against Koko Jan 29 The charge-hearing in a tax evasion case against Arafat Rahman Koko, younger son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, was today (Sunday) again deferred to January 29. The defence counsel submitted before the Metropolitan Sessions Judge' s court of Dhaka that a writ petition against the case was pending disposal in the High Court. Judge Mohammad Zahurul Haque deferred the hearing to January 29. -UNB
