Socialism can ensure participation of toiling masses in power structure: Inu

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said on Sunday socialism is the best way to ensure participation of workers, peasants and the toiling masses in the power structure, reports BSS.

The minister made the comments while speaking at a condolence meeting on A F M Mahbubul Haq, convener of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) at the National Press Club in the city..

Inu recalled the days of 1971 when Mahbub worked as a guerilla trainer.

The minister also said the nation will remember Mahbub's dedication with utmost respect.

Mahbub died of a brain stroke in a Canadian hospital on November 10. He was 69. He is survived by his wife and daughter.

As a student leader Mahbub was known to be an energetic organiser. After liberation, he joined the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal. In 1980, following an ideological feud, he left the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal and was one of the founders of the Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD).

Later, the BSD also split into a number of groups. Mahbub headed one of the groups.
