The 12th anniversary of death of BUET student Sabekun Nahar Sony will be observed today (Saturday), reports BSS.
Sony, a student of Chemical Technology Department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), was killed in a gun battle over tender between two rival groups of students on the university campus on June 8, 2002.
"We are going to observe the day with heavy hearts as the two main culprits, Mokammel Hayat Khan Muki and Nurul Islam Sagar are still roaming free," said Sony's father Habibur Rahman.
"It is a sensational case and the incident was the first of its kind in the country, where a female student was killed on her campus, but yet police don't have any clue about the killers," the bereaved father added.
Marking the day, Sony Memorial Foundation will place wreath at Sony Memorial Plaque on the campus at 8:30 am, hold a human chain and a memorial meeting will be held at the National Press Club at 5:00 pm.
