SP Mohiuddin Farooqui on remand

A Dhaka court has placed former company commander of RAB-2 SP Mohiuddin Farooqui on a two-day remand in the case lodged over the murder of Zobayer Omar Khan in the capital's Jatrabari area during the student-led mass uprising, reports BSS.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Farooqui, who worked as deputy commandant at Betbunia Police Specialised Training Centre, was produced before the court on Wednesday as police pleaded to place him on seven-day remand in the case. His counsel, however, argued for his bail.

After hearing both sides, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman placed the SP on a two-day remand.
