Speaker for making parliamentary democracy stronger for people's rights

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has stressed the need for strengthening parliamentary democracy to ensure rights of the people, reports BSS.
"Parliamentary democracy will consolidate if the lawmakers play active role in parliament as they are the representatives of the people . . . Parliament is the focal point of all activities," she said.
The Speaker made the comments while speaking at the inaugural session of a training programme at an auditorium of the Jatiya Sangsad in the city.
Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad and Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), UK, organised the two-day training titled 'Fundamentals of the Westminster Parliament and Parliamentary Research Practices', said a release.
