Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury expressed on Friday deep shock at the deaths in a stampede on the bank of Old Brahmaputra River at Langalbandh, Narayanganj on Friday morning, reports BSS.
In a condolence message, the Speaker said it was a sorrowful and fatal incident. She prayed for salivation of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved families. Deputy Speaker of JS Md Fazle Rabbi Miah and Chief Whip ASM Feroz also expressed profound shock at the deaths.
A total of 10 devotees were killed and several others injured in the stampede during the Astami Snan (holy bath), one of the special religious festivals of the Hindu community, on the bank of Old Brahmaputra River at Langalbandh, Narayanganj.
