State minister for Law Quamrul Islam Thursday disclosed that the woman who was allegedly raped by BNP Leader Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury during the War of Liberation in 1971 admitted the fact to the investigation agency, reports UNB.
"Specific allegation has come against Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury. International Crimes Tribunal will issue warrant of arrest against him in due course," he said.
Quamrul was addressing a discussion on 'impeding war crimes trial through subversive activities' at the Muktijuddho Jadughar in the city.
He said that the investigation agency had primarily prepared a list of 12 war criminals after investigation. Of them, some were already arrested and warrants would be issued against the others.
He said initially these 12 persons would be put on the dock and the trial would be completed during the tenure of the present government. "We won't put any party on the dock, only the individuals on specific charges."
Quamrul said: "Acts of sabotage have already been started to disrupt the trial process".
Criticising BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia for the train accident in Sirajganj, he said incidents of Sirajganj, Natore and Chittagong were inseparably linked.
He said BNP's politics was aimed at protecting Khaleda's house, her sons and obstructing war crimes trial. "They won't be able to protect her house or Koko. Parole is nothing permanent," he said, adding that Koko must return home and face trial.
'Amra Muktijoddhar Santan' and Bangladesh Enterprise for Development and Securities Studies jointly organised the discussion.
