CHITTAGONG, Jan 15: Criticising the agreements the government of Sheikh Hasina has signed with India during her visit BNP lawmaker Salauddin Quader Chowdhury said that the government has sold out the country.
He said that offering Chittagong port to India is similar to waging a war against the country. "The second world war broke out on the refusal of a Polish sea port. Hitler wanted the port from Poland and when refused by Poland he attacked it," Chowdhury said.
He said this while speaking at a press briefing this morning at his residence in the city. Secretary of Chittagong north district unit of BNP Aslam Chowdhury, among other local leaders, were present on the occasion.
"We are now left insecure. She has sought security from India. So how can she give us security?" he said.
He observed that the people of Chittagong will get nothing out of Hasina's visit. Offering the port of Chittagong to India is a part of conspiracy because this agreement will pave way for separating Chittagong from Bangladesh.
"ULFA brought 10 trucks loaded arms and ammunitions through this port to fight India. Now India will use Chittagong port to bring arms and ammunitions to fight against the ULFA," he stated.
I hope the city mayor Mohiuddin Chowdhury will fight against the offering of Chittagong port to India because he is a patriotic leader and he opposed the privatization of the port to American company SSA.
Reminding Sheikh Hasina of her father's role in 1947 Chowdhury said, she should take lessons from her father who strongly supported the Muslim nationalism in 1947.
