CHATTOGRAM, Jan 03: A leader of Sramik Dal, the workers' wing of BNP, was stabbed to death by unidentified assailants in the Jungle Salimpur area at Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram.
The victim is Mir Md Arman Hossain (48), a resident of the area and son of late Motaher Hossain. He was a local leader of Sramik Dal.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sitakunda thana Md Mojibur Rahman said the incident occurred around 8:00 pm in the Jungle Salimpur area at Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram. The victim was stabbed to death by miscreants.
Police said, "Arman Hossain was chatting at a tea stall near his house on Thursday evening. During the chat, he got a call and talked over the phone before walking a short distance to meet someone. A few minutes later, he started to scream for help. Witnesses said several attackers were seen fleeing the spot after stabbing Arman. Locals rushed to the spot and sent him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where doctors declared him dead."
Sitakunda thana police said legal actions were being taken and efforts were underway to identify and catch the killers.
