\\\'State is universal but religion is personal\\\'

Speakers at a discussion said Monday that secularism does not mean anti-religion, while the state is universal but the religion is personal, reports BSS.

They said father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman upheld the core principles of nationalism, democracy, secularism, and an equitable society free from exploitation.

Bangabandhu Parisad organised the discussion on Secularism does not mean anti-religion followed by Iftar at the National Press Club in the city Monday.

Chaired by general secretary of the organisation Dr SA Malek, the discussion was also addressed, among others, by vice-chancellor of Khulna University Prof Fayekuzzaman, former vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University Prof Anwar Hossain, Dhaka University Prof Akteruzzaman and Prof Dr Golam Rabbani.
