Awami League (AL) presidium member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said Friday that staying abroad Tarique Rahman, a corrupt to the backbone, has been resorting to repeated falsehood, reports BSS.
"He (Tarique) has been uttering remarks like a duffer. He is a pigheaded person. Staying abroad he has been hatching conspiracy against the country," he said.
Mohammad Nasim said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organised the discussion on the "Jail Killing Day in the context of current politics" at Dhaka Reporters Unity at Segunbagicha with its leader and popular actor Faruque in the chair.
Awami League Central Working Committee member Sujit Roy Nandi and Dhaka City AL vice-president Faezuddin Miah were the discussants, among others.
Pointing at BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, the minister said, "Tarique Rahman has been ruining your party. He has been pushing your party on the brink of destruction. Expel him from the party although he is your dearest one."
Mohammad Nasim said, "There should be a limit of resorting to falsehood and arrogancy. Those who have indulged in corruption by creating Hawa Bhaban have now been ruining BNP." Tarique Rahman should be tried bringing him back to the country, the minister added.
Mohammad Nasim said, "After coming to power Ziaur Rahman, founder of BNP, sheltered and patronised the killers of Bangabandhu and the four national leaders."
Meanwhile, Awami League (AL) Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud said Friday that Tarique Rahman's statement on Bangabandhu which he made in London Wednesday is completely false and baseless in the context of the history, reports BSS.
"Such kind of statement by BNP leader Tarique Rahman in London is totally false and also a part of deep conspiracy-the fugitive (Tarique Rahman) should be brought back to the country in the greater interest of the rule of law and justice", said Hasan Mahmud.
