"It's impossible to be normal after what I have seen," is how the Human Rights Commission (HRC) chief Mizanur Rahman reacted after visiting the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), reports bdnews24.com.
He was there Thursday to visit the victims of arson attacks during the BNP-led alliance's countrywide indefinite transport blockade from January 6.
Since the blockade started, 22 people have been admitted to this hospital with burns sustained during the blockade, said DMCH authorities.
According to media reports, at least 10 people have died from burns in the last 11 days across the country and over 400 vehicles have been set on fire.
"No one has ever succeeded by declaring a war against the people. I beg to you (politicians), please do not ruin our future," Rahman said while speaking to reporters after emerging from the DMCH burn unit.
