Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu heavily criticised Khaleda Zia and BNP Friday to take a blunt stand for militants and war criminals and requested all the democratic and progressive forces to stop favouring the BNP just now, reports UNB.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a memorial meeting marking the 27th death anniversary of the founder of Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal (ML) Comrade Mohammad Toha at Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) auditorium in the city.
"Once a popular and prominent party, Muslim League was dumped into the dustbin of history as it opposed the Language Movement and the War of Liberation. Likewise, the BNP will face the same fate for supporting militancy, Jamaat and war criminals," he also said.
"It will not be wise to equate Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, who initiates holding trials of war criminals and taking actions against militancy, with Khaleda Zia, who patronises militants, Jamaat, war criminals and other evil forces," the minister opined.
"This is high time to decide whether we will support Sheikh Hasina or Khaleda Zia for the betterment of the nation. There is no way to sit idle or keep ourselves away," Inu, also president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), called upon all the left-leaning political parties and progressive forces.
