Sunamganj BNP leader Haji Mujibur Rahman, missing since Sunday night, had spent time in a UK prison, accused of an attempt to murder, reports bdnews24.com.
Some Bangladeshis living in the UK told the news agency over phone that Rahman had spent six months in a prison in England in 2003 on charges of an attempt to murder.
Rahman and his driver are missing since Sunday night and BNP has organised protests to push for tracing him.
Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sunamganj Harunur Rashid told the news agency that three police teams had been working over-time to find Rahman and his driver.
