Awami League Advisory Council member Suranjit Sengupta asked on Monday BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to return to democratic politics discarding terrorism and Jamaat to get relieved of her sins, reports BSS.
"It can't be termed movement what BNP-Jamaat combine did in the name ofsiege-hartal programmes over the past 92 days. I congratulate her (Khaleda Zia)on her decision for honouring the request of Shata Nagorik Committee toreturn to her residence, though late," he said.
Suranjit Sengupta, a senior parliamentarian of the ruling Awami League, said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on 'current politics', organised by Bangabandhu Academy at the auditorium of Diploma Engineers Institution in the city.
Convener of Dhaka City unit Samyabadi Dal Haroon Chowdhury and secretarygeneral of Bangabandhu Academy Humayun Kabir Mizi were the discussants, amongothers.
Mr Suranjit said, "The whole nation heaved a sigh of relief on her(Khaleda Zia) return home.
However, the burning odour of human beings would not go from her body if the entire lot of Paris perfumes poured on her. She should visit those burn injured persons and to stay beside them."
The senior Awami League leader said, "Khaleda Zia should discardterrorism and Jamaat to get relieved of her sins and only then she couldreturn to democratic and constitutional politics."
Calling upon the Election Commission (EC) to complete the polls in three citycorporations in a free, fair and neutral manner, he said extensive enthusiasm has already been created among the voters and contestants centring the polls to three city corporations but the ministers should be more careful in their remarks and then a healthy political atmosphere would return to the country.
