Awami league (AL) advisory council member Suranjit Sengupta has urged BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to come back to democratic politics shunning destructive politics, reports BSS.
"Stop burning people and shun the path of destruction in the name of politics and come back on to democratic path, because democracy and destruction cannot walk together," he said Monday.
"Government also wants to sit for discussion but no dialogue will be held with those unleashing terror throwing petrol bombs at people and burning them alive," he said.
The AL leader said this as the chief guest at a discussion on current political situation at the Institution of Diploma Engineers auditorium in the city organised by AL supporter's organisation "Nouka Shomorthok Goshthi".
Suranjit, also chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Parliamentary affairs said, "BNP led 20-party alliance has taken stand against the students calling blockade and shut down during the SSC examinations, but the government and AL are always with the students."
"We urge the BNP and its allies to stop unleashing violence during the SSC examinations considering the future of the examinees," said Suranjit.
