Suspected drug trader dies in Rajshahi 'gunfight'


RAJSHAHI, Feb 11 (UNB): A suspected drug trader was killed in a 'gunfight' between two groups of drug traders at Rautha village in Charghat Upazila early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Fazlul Haque alias Fazlu, 48, son of Wahab Munshi and an accused in 10 drug cases.
A press release signed by senior assistant superintendent of Police Abdur Razzak Khan, said being tipped off over a gunfight between two groups of drug traders at the village at around 01:45 am over establishing supremacy, a team of police rushed to the spot.
Police opened 10 rounds of bullet to bring the situation under control.
The drug traders also attacked police, leaving four policemen, including officer-in-charge of Charghat Police Station, injured, it said.
Later, police recovered Fazlul's bullet hit body from the spot and seized a foreign pistol, a magazine, one-round of bullet and 55 bottles Indian Phensidyl.
