Sustainable policies for bldg constn to be adopted: Minister

The government is going to adopt sustainable policies for designing, development and management of constructing buildings and for this public-private partnership (PPP) is a prerequisite.
Housing and Public Works Minister Engr Mosharraf Hossain said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of a three-day Green Expo & Summit in Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city Wednesday.
The exposition titled '3rd International Greenbuild, the 4th International Powertech and the 5th International Solartech' was jointly organised by ExpoNet Exhibition (pvt) Ltd, Bangladesh and Greenleaf Green Solutions Pvt Ltd, India.
Some 75 global leading companies from 10 countries, including Bangladesh, will showcase their eco-industrial products, latest green technology and services in the expo. World-renowned experts and specialists concerned in solar, power and green building industries will present their papers in the summit. Many interested intellectuals, entrepreneurs, service holders and researchers will attend the summit.
Speakers at the opening ceremony said the Green Expo will create an opportunity to establish cross-border trade relations, face to face contact, sharing knowledge and experience to standardise their products, modernise business and improve supply chain management. It will also help to achieve technological knowledge to ensure product quality, durability, efficiency, cost-effectiveness.
The expo will continue from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm and will be open for all.
In the show some 130 stalls have been set up to display over 300 branded solar and green technology-based products.
The participating countries are Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, UAE, UK, China, USA and Korea.
On the closing day tomorrow (March 14) a business summit on green trade and investment will be held with the contribution of notable specialists and experts of sectors concerned at home and abroad, according to the speakers in the programme.
Chief Architect of Department of Architecture, ministry of housing and public works Md Ahsanul Haque Khan was the chair and moderator, Senior Adviser, Sustainable Energy for Development (SED), German Development Cooperation Dilder Ahmed Taufiq was the key-note presenter.
