Sylhet DB starts probing Rajon killing

SYLHET, July 17: Detective Branch (DB) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) has started investigating the much -talked about case for killing 13-year-old boy Samiul Alam Rajon.
Inspector of DB Suronjit Talukder took the charge of the case as new investigation officer, said the additional Deputy Commissioner (North) of SMP Mohammad Rahamat Ullah Thursday.
A metropolitan magistrate court on Wednesday ordered for transferring the case to the DB.
Meanwhile, metropolitan magistrate court- III Anwarul Haque placed two other accused Nur Miah and Dulal Miah on a seven-day remand on Thursday.
Rajon was beaten to death on July 08 in the city's Kumargaon bus stand area by a group who branded him as a thief. They also videoed the torture and gruesome killing and spread it through internet.
Besides, they negotiated the matter with Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge (Investigation) and Aminul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Jalalabad thana for recording the incident as 'death of an unidentified thief', Rajon's father alleged.
A three-member committee, headed by Additional Commissioner of SMP SM Rukon Uddin, is investigating the allegations on filing of a case by police.
