Shah AMS Kibria HABIGANJ, Dec 21 (UNB) : A court here issued on Saturday warrants for arrest against 11 people, including former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's political secretary Harris Chowdhury and incumbent Sylhet City Corporation mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, in the Shah AMS Kibria murder case.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Rashid Ahmed Milon passed the order after taking cognisance of the supplementary charge sheet filed against 35 people by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police.
Three of the accused have been dropped from the charge sheet while 21 are shown arrested, eight on bail and 11 remain fugitive.
The supplementary charge sheet submitted by CID assistant superintendent of police Meherunnesa Khanam on November 13, implicating former State Minister for Home Lutfuzzaman Babar, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's political secretary Harris Chowdhury and Sylhet City Corporation mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, in the Kibria murder case.
In today's hearing, the court also rejected the bail petition of BNP leader and former junior minister Lutfuzzaman Babar in the case.
