Jatiya Party on Saturday urged the government to take actions against those who have resorted to a foul play to push down the prices of rawhides during the Eid-ul-Azha, reports UNB.
"What the unscrupulous businessmen have done with rawhides is an ill-motivated act. They've created such a situation to give the sellers a throwaway price," said Jatiya Party secretary general Moshiur Rahman Ranga.
He came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after a joint meeting of their party's presidium members and MPs at the Banani office of its chairman.
Ranga also called upon the government to provide the fire victims of Mirpur slum with proper compensation and rehabilitate them.
He said as their late chairman HM Ershad's chehlum coincides with Hindu community's Janmashtami on August 23, they will hold a discussion meeting, doa mahfil and a food distribution programme on August 31.
Replying to a question, Ranga said their party will select its candidate for Rangpur-3 seat by-election as per the party charter.
Rangpur-3 constituency fell vacant following the death of Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on July 14.
